Hi Guys How do you find the performance of K & N filters in the dusty environment that we live. What sort of time between cleaning and re-oiling. I have a Disco 2 V8. Anybody have any experience of them with the Disco?Or should I stick with stock Land Rover paper element. I have read K&N's website , just looking for local info/reassurance etc. Finally are they cheaper in Sharjah.(I live in Dubai) What about the K&N Oil filters? Thanks Shaun

Shaun, I run K&N on my patrol instead of paper. It does seem to help the engine breathe a bit better at high RPM. But more importantly since it's a wet filter it tends to catch more dust and that is better on the long run for the engine (cleaner oil etc.) I clean it once a month when I change the oil, I know some people who clean it each time they go out, up to you.

Jim, I'm being ignorant. Is it really worth changing to K&N if you use the car more on road than off road. Will it improve or had a bad effect on the engine.
Regards Bryan

Bryan, Well "wet" filters are suppose to catch more dust so that should be better for the engine, so if anything the whole thing should be better. Also since the air flow is higher, there is suppose to be a benefecial effect with fuel combustion especially at high RPM (so I am told - I am not a mechanic). It's all up to you in the end. JF

Ramy Trading near the Dnatta building. They're in the yellow pages.
With the K&N's you shouldn't clean them so regularly, they're not like normal filters. You can leave them a good 30,000km before cleaning.

I checked the K&N web site, they dont have any filters for nissan patrol, although some shops here claim that they have it for the patrol, is it a generic one ? They have a search page on the web site www.kandn.com to look for the K&N products for your car.

Surfer, Go to al Tazweed or Golden Cars in SHJ, second flyover from Wahda, take a right, first intersection on your right hand side.

Hey wasaap Shawn. I just installed a K&N FIPK Injection kit on my Jeep Wrangler. I always go off roading and have installed a slip on sock that you can purchase for the filter. It saves cleaning it more often. Performance wise it helps allot as i have just bought some BF Goodrich tiers 31inch. You clean them by judging the colour change of the filter. The K&N filter is much better then stock any day, but you will notice fuel burns allot quicker

;D Hey all..
The K&N oil filter is just another part that will cost you less on the long run as in changing oil filters at every service. But it anit a performance part , just an enhancment part.
They say reserves oil much more then the stock, but hey ive already tried it so i can say it saves money..
There is also a K&N breather filter for the Head which works good also if your looking for breathing the car better..
Im just waiting to install a complete Headers kit, as it will do wonders once it combines with the K&N filter as it will help allot since it will be a Direct intake plus direct flow... ( YUM YUM ) ;D
Im slowly upgrading parts in the car , i will update it here and give the feedback on part by part.
Peace... ;D
