Hi All.. Digging through the net I found the mentioned items above are suitable with my wallet power outlet.. Now technically can anybody advice which one to go for..? 1- Considering the compatibility with maps & routes posted in the club. 2- What is the difference if I bought them online (USA) rather than getting them locally. My kindest Regards, Abdulla

The Difference is very minimal if you buy them online or locally so it's not worth buying them online, best place to buy them is at carrefour (very good price) and very good service also.
As for compatibility, they both can take the Garmin maps, waypoints and tracks posted on this site. No problem.

Not really true Fouad. The gps (60cs) that I am buying off the net along with a auto nav kit excluding shipping costs me the price of the base unit in carrefour. However the unit along with the auto nav kit and shipping is less than the price of the base unit in AMIT . Abdulla, I too was contemplating on buying the quest but opted for the 60cs as I wanted something portable as well as it is kinda rugged.

Thanks Fouad and Bryan..
I agree with Bryan.. I found online-shops selling the 76c cheaper than UAE market price by Dhs. 250-350.
BTW, what is that Auto Navigation Kit Brayn..?
Anybody would like to add further..

Abdulla,
The Auto Nav kit is basically a kit comprising of a portable and a permanent dash mount bracket. It also comes with UK Map source software and at the time of me purchasing there was no plan to introduce the kit with Middle East Mapsouce software. But coming from the UK I may use the UK map should I go on vacation. The portable dash mount I find real handy as I can easily transfer the unit between my company car and my 4x4. The GPS I bought is a 60CS and for me it performs well, not too bulky, reasonably rugged and water resistant.
It works fine for me.

Hey abdulla, confused u did we? Seriously though if you have not made up your mind take a look at the 60cs. I kinda prefer it to the 76c or cs.

I think I'm going with 60C since I don't care about E.compass and B.meter..
But still negotiating myself about memory..
76C with 115 MB Vs. 60C with 56 MB
I think 56 MB thing is enough, isn't it..??
I will be using it for offroading only..
I think I will place an order for 60C

Yeah but for a few more bucks you could have these as well. Now wouldnt you be banging your head saying why did I not get this as well. Thats the reason for my choice of the cs.
As for memory, you can always upgrade if you feel the need to.

I'm in agreement here with Bryan, its only a bit more cash and if for some reason you have bad sattellite reception you still have a compass. In terms of memory I have not yet filled the track log up completely yet on some lengthy trips (1000KM+) Additionally you can allways save your track log/routes to your pc for future use, just down load when needed. I'd stick to the 60CS, but its up to you and what you need.

I used to have a GPSMAP 76 before I bought the GPSMAP 76C. The 76 had only 8MB of memory (not enough) and it was monochrome color display ( which I dont really mind). One of the members bought the 76 from me and I added more money and got the 76C.
Today I am sorry I did that, the 76 was much more better piece of equipment than the 76C. the Reception was MUCH MUCH more better, although the Garmin website says the 76c has a longer battery life than the 76, NOT TRUE the 76 was much more better.
The 76 was also much more easier to operate while driving, the 76c 's menu and interface is more complicated and has more (unnecessary options which complicates your life while driving.
With the 76 I never stoped the car to operate it, with the 76c many times I have to stop the vehicle to look for a waypoint. Dont know if some of you noticed during the last trip I stopped many times in the convoy...I was checking the GPS hihi.
Overall I am sorry I sold the GPSMAP 76, the only problem was memory, but still it was ok.

I really feel bad for you Fouad.. it happened to me a lot and worst part of it is always happening and whenever I take a desicion myself..
Now adays I don't break my head thinking of those things. Simply I use them as they are until the next opportunity to have an alternative or upgrade..
I don't know that much about GPSs.., but can't you get the original software changed with some other models software which is compatible yo your GPS..

Problem isnt in the software, it';s in the hardware.
As I said the 76 had better reception over the 76C and the menus were easy to use and it had better battery life.
