I was there Alaa, it was DG's rally car, but neither DG nor his co-pilot were driving. I guess you saw the picture on the website, I had to remove it specifically because people thought it was DG who rolled it, it wasn't him nor anyone on his team.

Anyway, for new SUVs and 4x4 you'll have to read about in the new issue of Offroad Adventures Magazine in December. Loads of new 4x4s coming out in the next 2 years 2006-2008.
DG, the Blazer had good crash test results when it was a BLAZER and manufactured in the US, just because the chinese bought the moulds and made it themselves it doesnt mean the car design is bad, it depends on who's manufacturing it and how.
If you remember, that's how Huyndai started, they bought off the moulds from Mitsubishi and started making the Pajero themselves under the name Galloper, it was a good car coz they made it the same way Mitsubishi did.
There's something most people tend to overlook : Metalurgy. I dont blame those who dont know, we are not all born scientists. But a car engineers (depending on which company they work for) go to great length also to study the metalurgy of a car. a car's components (engine, suspension, body chassis...etc) have a lot of metal in them (steel, cast iron, aluminium, zinc, sometimes titanium...etc) of course not all are made by the car's manufacturer, most are outsourced, but engineers calculate how much density of a certain metal component or alloy should be made for this component, it is this component adequate density, rigidity or smoothness that make the difference sometimes between a successful car and a bad one. sometimes these engineers make calculation mistakes and realize it after the car is commercialized, so they do recalls to fix the problem.
If the Chinese bought the moulds from GM, it doesnt mean they will be using the same metal alloys the Americans did. it is the cost of proper components that mnake the difference in price between and American and a Chinese car, not just labor cost and taxes.

The chinese are not link at all with GM, they copy the design that's all. GM is intending an action in law to stop that. GM does not approve the LANDWIN... I drove an Hummer, remember it was with U Note: I have my Patrol since 3 years now with 120.000 km. I pull a lot of members from this club with, I climb a lot of dunes, every week end I am off roading with it... On the service (full check up), there is nothing to do, just change oils that all! When I got the Pajero, after each trip, I had to go for the service... ;D
