Hi all, ..just looking for some comments and opinions .. I am looking to relace my wifes ford escape..she wants an explorer ..I got no problem with this , but having never taken one off road i would like some comments on its ability... she only drives on tarmac..but i would sometimes want to use it off road ..nothing serious, just family trips etc ..(serious stuff, i use my jeep!)
Also ..I been offered a new car with 3yr or 60k warranty, and 60k of free service ...an option for another 3000 or so dirhams is an upgrade to 5 yr unlimited mileage warranty ... ..u think this is a good deal ?
Ps ..anyone want a Ford Escape (3 litre 200bhp v6 auto). 15 months old ..40,000 kilometres, full service history, dhs50.000
regards
Robert

We have taken a few explorers into the wilderness and have renamed them the exploder. Clearance not enough though if it is only tracks that you are gonna traverse then that is not needed. It was a bit bulky. The radiator was also rather too low so something to watch for. Other than that not seen many offroad. But any car that comes with the deal you are getting and to be used mainly on the streets is a good deal. Save some money for you jeep.

I drove the explorer and the expedition in the desert. Both are able to make family trip even if the expedition is a "Monster". The Explorer is a good 4x4. Only deflate to 13 PSI and u will do want you want with it in the sand... The only problem is the aerican shock absorber (the car is always playing, bouncing)

Thanx for the feedback Bryan and DG... much appreciated. I'm a whole lot happier now ... hope to complete the purchase today !
..I do wish manufacturers would provide for some form of 'off road' test drive .. test drives on tarmac are ok , but only give half a test ! Surely if they claim 4x4 ability..then they should let paying customers 'get a feel' of it in the car they are interested in.
All the best

Hi All, A friend of mine bought a new Explorer last week . we went to test it in the sand. We were surprised by its performance, not bad at all for a heavy 4x4.
After all, I still love my JEEP WRANGLER. ;D ;D ;D
