Ziggy Beach is now open as of yesterday. The Slope up from WB is steep but OK, Low ratio recommended.
The top has been levelled off where they have set up a flat area for paragliders to jump off from, and, presumably head for the beach. Also at the top they have built a flat concreted area with a stone wall around it where you can set up your BBQ/Picnic stuff and the view is amazing, both sides, to the sea and back to the mountains on the other side.
The down road to the beach has been completed. This is ok to the half way point where it is loose sand and small rocks. It has not been compacted. Once you start down and reach this point you have to keep going. at the second bend there is a soft area, keep left as there is hard rock here, remember this when you come back up as you will need this for grip.
The trip back up is not easy and not for the faint hearted. Low ratio, low gear. The first half of the slope is loose sand and rock and a lot of care is need. I used LR and first gear at this point.
The good news was that the beach was very nice, people there nice, worth the trip. I guess the road will be complted in the near future. The flat bit at the top would be a nice picnic stop, if you did not want to go down the other side.
The vehicle used was a LR Discovery Series 2. Did very well. especially the electronic down hill control.
;D
