Well as said by many, yes Dubai Traffic Police is getting very picky on modified cars. I drove there today "alone with no wasta" with my humbly modified jeep, I got big NO and failed me for the following:
* Suspension and Steering Failed Check body level; change all 4 springs to original ones and replace shocks to original ones!
* Lights Failed Remove fog lights, light bar
* Silencer System Failed Noisy replace with original one
They didn't complain about having a winch, warn bumpers, 35" tires!!. I will go back the other way "wasta" and see how registration works... Note that my jeep have the following mods: 4.5" short arm lift kit, Rancho 9000rsx shocks, BFG 35" All terrain tires, 1" body lift, Borla headers, borla c.back, Yoke eliminator kit, CV drive shaft, heavy duty lower control arms, 4.88 ring & pinion, arb air lockers front and rear, transfer case drop, arb snorkel and K&N filter, modified car comp, warn bumpers and warn side steps, warn winch, warn light bar, bush wacker fenders, MT 15x8 rims, BT heavy tire carrier, BT extenda trunk system, custom cut hard top... and few more mods can't recall...

Yeah, I noticed they dont much about the front bumper or winch, my Blazer passed last month with the "extended" front end or front hitch.
It's truly sad that you cant modify your car anymore. This is a true challenge for EMSF. shouldn't they have a say in this ? this is a true test for EMSF and all those who joined their affiliation.
If you can't register your car even with the wasta, try registering it as a "Rally car" hehehe

Are these guys geting picky about the Air filters and exhausts?
I read something in the Gulf News last month that any mod which Inscreases the speed / performance of the vehicle more than the spec states would be subject to failure in the tests.

Filters they won't say anything about, but headers, cat backs and so on they will ask you to remove. I'm taking the Jeep again today the "other way" and I will keep you posted.

The "other way" worked perfectly without even seing the rig this is really sad that we have to take such options. It costed 1500dhs! and registration card home delivery included

As far as I can remember, it has always been that way around here! ;D Ya you will have a tough time registering headers, anywhere in the world where they actually check cars prior to registration (unless you show up with a wad of certificates etc..). BTW watch out with them tyres on the road. I remember an incident about a year ago where the boys were cracking down on mods such as headers, black tint window being too dark (I don't think you will have that problem) and... tyres! At the time they were looking for sand tyres.

yeah but that was all due to a particular incident. Sand tires are ok, and besides 95% of patrols and landcruisers have 'em!
