To all jeep owners tired of the ruff ride and small wheel travel obtained with leaf springs: It is simple and quite inexpensive to convert your leaf springs to coil spring. You gain in confort, handling and off-road ability. At the same time and for the same cost, you can have the suspension raised by whatever you need to fit whatever tire size you need. Now, I do not know if the regulation of the club allow me to give the adress of the workshop doing this job and will let Fouad handle this. So if anyone is interested, just contact Fouad. Um I believe leaf springs give better wheel travel, and are much more stable when they reach extreme droop. Also it is not cheap to convert to coils, It involves a lot of modification to install all the arms, mounts, etc for coils.

Yeh slowly over the course of the next half a year or so until summer, I'm going to start and finish my build up. The stuff I've done so far is installed a set of ProComp lights, Developed a comprehensive tool kit.
I've also done some 'street mods'. Swapped in a Xplod CD player, added a pair of Xplod 6x9's into a custom home made sound shelf, then added a pair of JBL 4x6's up front. To come hopefully an amp and a couple of subs.
In the off road mods, hopefully to come, ProComp 2.5" lift, 31x10.5 tyres, Front locker.
The next thing though is to fab up a GPS mount. I'm sick of having it falling around.

Just acquired a brand new Patrol SW Super Safar with stock rear locker. I have immediately removed the side steps, the mud flaps and the original bumper, addded an ARB front locker, Interco 33 inch tires, a Warn bumper with 12000Lbs winch, a pull pal, a 2 inch lift kit with nitro shocks etc...... Difflock; I don't mean to get too nosey, but how much, approximately, did those upgrades cost you? Looking at a Patrol, (besides the Al Dhabi?? ), and your set-up looked kind of neat there.. -André

Hey Khaiwi, Out of curiosity did you mount these lights on the roof on a rack or just find space on the bumper (if plastic did you make a bracket?). Thanks for the info I am thinking about adding tracklights as well and kind of debating how I want them mounted. JF

Jimbo,
As you know the front bumper on these Patrols is Fiber and will break very soon from the vibration if u mount lights on them, so, I had a custom fabricated bracket, I will post a closeup picture soon, hoping I will be able to post (upload) one without pointing to a location on the web.
Any advise on which Air filter to go for? e.g. K&N etc, and how beneficial they are against the stock filters?
Regards,

Ya that's what I thought about the fiber bumper. got the plastic bumper myself and can't force myself to install a rail over the roof, so was thinking about the metal bracket solution. How did you do for the wiring (relays etc..)? Was that a tough one?
Go for K&N, makes a big difference when there is a heavy load on the engine, you can actually feel the car sucking in more air. Well at least that was my experience with it. Most of the Patrol owners I know have it. The one sticky point is that I am not sure K&N makes the barrel model that would fit your casing. The most popular option is just to get an oversized cone filter and build a bracket around it to keep it from sucking in the hot air around the engine. Most of the brackets for K&N air intakes for US engines actually have plastic separators to avoid that specific problem. Ramy sells a socket to put around the filter for AED50 (not sure about that quote) to protect from sand etc.. My experience with the filter is that you go offroading a lot, just clean the d**n thing every month (unless mucho dust) and you will be on the safe side.

I am not able to load the pics cause they should be somewhere on the net to point to them.
Anyhow, I can send an email to whomever is interested. Alternatively would appreciate suggestions for simpler solution.
